Chai Old Fashioned Recipe

Homemade chai simple syrup, rich bourbon and a touch of vanilla come together in this Chai Old Fashioned to add a tea-riffic twist on the classic cocktail.

Ingredients

Chai Simple Syrup

Chai Old Fashioned

  • 2 oz bourbon
  • 1 oz lemon juice
  • 1 dash orange bitters
  • 1-2 oz chai tea syrup
  • Cinnamon stick, orange peel and star anise, for garnish (optional)

Instructions

Chai Simple Syrup

  1. Steep Mardi Gras Indian Spiced Chai in 1 cup boiling water for 10-15 minutes.
  2. In a medium pot, bring tea and honey to a boil over high heat. Boil 3-5 minutes, then remove from the heat. Stir in the vanilla. Let cool. (Can store in refrigerator for up to 2 weeks.)

Chai Old Fashioned

  1. In a cocktail shaker, combine the bourbon, lemon juice, orange bitters and 2 tablespoons of the chai syrup. Shake to combine.
  2. Strain into a glass.
  3. If desired, garnish with cinnamon and star anise.
